Superintendent Hazel recently visited Frazier Elementary, where she observed some impressive classroom activities. In a Kindergarten class, she witnessed an engaging lesson from the Heggerty Curriculum that focused on phonemic awareness, letter sounds, and blending words. Superintendent Hazel even participated in a fun sand letter writing activity with the students. Her visit continued in a 3rd-grade classroom, where students were engaged in small groups, working on computer assignments, independent reading, and classwork centered around text-dependent questions. One group collaborated with the teacher to explore vocabulary words using context clues. Superintendent Hazel concluded her visit in a 6th-grade classroom, where students were actively working in groups to identify the main idea of various texts. Throughout her visit, she noted the high level of student engagement and collaboration across all grade levels.
